Terms of service

Short, plain terms for candidates and employers using TechTypo.

Last updated: 3 November 2026

Template notice. These terms were drafted to match how the product currently works. The owner should review them, fill in the legal entity and governing law, and have them checked by a lawyer before relying on them.

1. Who these terms apply to

These terms are an agreement between you and [Owner legal name] (“we”, “TechTypo”). They apply to anyone who uses techtypo.com, whether as a candidate taking a test, an employer running tests, or someone verifying a certificate. By using the site you accept them.

2. The service

TechTypo provides browser-based typing, 10-key and data-entry tests, certificates with verification links, and a tool for employers to send tests to candidates and view results. Candidate tests and certificates are free. The employer tool is free during early access; if we introduce paid plans we will announce pricing in advance and existing results will remain accessible.

3. Provided as-is

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free or available at any particular time. We may change or discontinue features, and we will give employers reasonable notice of changes that affect their stored data.

4. What a certificate means, and what it does not

A TechTypo certificate attests only that a browser-based test with the stated result was completed under the stated name at the stated time, and that the stored record matches what the verification page shows. It does not attest to the identity of the person who typed, the hardware used, or the conditions of the test.

No proctoring. We do not provide webcam, screen-recording or in-person proctoring. Integrity flags shown to employers are signals, not proof. Whether a certificate or result is acceptable for any particular purpose, including public-sector hiring, is decided by the employer or agency concerned, not by us.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • take a test under someone else's name, or have someone else take a test under yours;
  • use scripts, macros, automation or any tool to generate keystrokes during a test;
  • alter a certificate or present an altered certificate as genuine;
  • attempt to access other people's results, accounts or tests;
  • send invite links to people who have not applied to you or otherwise agreed to be tested;
  • use the service in a way that breaks the law, including employment and anti-discrimination law in your jurisdiction;
  • interfere with the service, probe it for vulnerabilities without permission, or place unreasonable load on it.

6. Employer responsibilities

If you run tests as an employer, you are responsible for how you use results in your hiring decisions, for complying with the employment, data-protection and anti-discrimination laws that apply to you, and for telling candidates what you will do with their results. You control the candidate results you collect, and you can delete them at any time. See the privacy policy for what we store.

7. Accounts and termination

Employer sign-in is by Google or by emailed link; we do not store passwords. Keep your email account secure, since anyone with access to it can sign in. You may delete your account at any time from the dashboard, which deletes your tests and results. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, with notice where practical. We may also discontinue the service with reasonable notice to employers.

8. Content and intellectual property

The site, test passages, software and design are ours or our licensors'. You may use them to take and run tests as intended. You own the data you enter; you grant us a licence to store and process it to provide the service.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for hiring decisions made using results from the service. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, which during early access is nothing. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, for material changes, email employers. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [Owner's jurisdiction], and any dispute will be heard in the courts of [Owner's jurisdiction].
